Mrs. James Thompson Dies in Irene, S. D.

Mrs. James Thompson, who was born Ruby Alice Reeves in Seney, May 27, 1888, died Sunday, May 25, in Irene, S. D. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29, in the Irene Lutheran church with Mr. and Mrs. Will Penning and Mr. and Mrs. Watson Reeves of LeMars attending.

Mrs. Thompson went with her parents, Mary and George Reeves, to South Dakota when she was a young girl and resided near Gayville. She married James C. Thompson March 28 [actually March 25], 1908 and lived near Irene until 1947 when the couple retired.

She survived by five daughters, two sons, 25 grandchildren and a sister [actually 2 sisters]. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1948, two sons her parents and [at least] three brothers.

Mrs. Jas. Thompsen (sic--Thompson) Succumbs Sunday

GAYVILLE (Special)--Mrs. James Thompsen (sic--Thompson), Irene, passed away at her home about 5:00 p.m. Sunday. She would have been 64 Tuesday. She had been ill for some time.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed pending word from relatives from a distance. The Hanson funeral home in Irene will announce funeral plans later.

Mrs. Thompsen (sic--Thompson) leaves seven children, and 24 grandchildren. The children are George, Seattle, Wash.; Harold, Irene; Anna, Mrs. Oswald Olson, Gayville; Ferne, Mrs. Carl Lyngstad, Volin; Mabel, Mrs. Walter Anderson, Ogden, Utah,: Myrtle, Mrs. Charles Clum, Washington, D. C.; and Pearl, Mrs. Merton Bak, Irene.

Preceding her in death were her husband, and one son, who was killed in World War II.

Funeral services for Mrs. James Thompson will be held on Thursday, May 29, at the home in Irene at 1:30 p.m., and from the Irene Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. I. J. Lovseth officiating, and the Hanson Funeral home in charge. Mrs. Thompson passed away Sunday.
