Cyrus A. Knapp
Cyrus A. Knapp, 84, 4101 East Gordon Drive, died Friday, Feb. 11, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Memorial services were held at St. Thomas Episcopal church, with the Rev. Verdery Kerr and the Rev. Roy Chrisman officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery under direction of Christy Morningside Funeral Home.
Mr. Knapp was born Aug. 3, 1909, at Westfield, Iowa, and attended country schools in that area. His parents sent him to junior high school, then through Central High school in 1927. He attended Morningside College for a year, and graduated from Iowa State College in Ames in 1933. He farmed around Westfield until his retirement into Sioux City in 1975. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. He was a charter member of the National Honor Society at Central High School. He was a member of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau Board and County Extension Council, the Morningside Golden Years Club and a longtime member of the Westfield school board.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia; two sons and their wives, Roger and Janice of Old Tappen, N.J., and Steven and Colleen of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Bryce Gehermann of Carson, Iowa; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Perriann and Bob Boyce of Sioux City and Janice and Kenneth Noble of Sloan, Iowa; two stepsons, Bob Bradley and his wife Judy of Round Rock, Texas, and Douglas Bradley of Pomona, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Karen Knapp of Westfield; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce, in November of 1993, and a sister, Marjorie Kurfiss.
