Mildred Plueger, 94, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Mildred Plueger was born Feb. 14, 1918, on a farm near Ireton, the daughter of John Henry and Martha Lena (Twillman) Luschen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Mildred attended country school near her home and helped her parents with housework and farming.

On March 6, 1940, Mildred and Ray Albert Plueger were united in marriage in Craig. They farmed west of Brunsville until 1945. It was then they moved to Le Mars where Mildred took a position with the school system. She retired following 18 years of service. Ray died Jan. 23, 1984.

Mildred remained in Le Mars and moved to Plymouth Manor Care Center June 7, 2007.

Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and participated in Hannah Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She spent winter months in San Marcos, Calif., with her daughter Phyllis. She also enjoyed visiting her daughter Norma Jean in Plano, Texas, her son Rodney in Greensboro, N.C., and son Dean in Pine Mountain, Calif.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Rodney and his wife, Monie, of Vass, N.C., Phyllis Overman and her husband, Bob, of San Marcos, Calif., Norma Jean Groetken and her husband, Kevin, of Plano, Texas, and Dean Plueger of Pine Mountain, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cleona Anderson and her husband, Le Roy, of Sioux City; and a sister-in-law Dorothy Luschen of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; a brother, John Jr., and a sister Winifred Ten Napel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Greg Gabriel will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday. Pallbearers will be Matt Groetken, Nick Groetken, Greg Anderson, Randy Anderson, Keith Luschen and Troy Cooke. Honorary pallbearers will be Allie Groetken and Thomas Plueger.
