MAY 3, 1900. ROBERT BEGG DIED AT THE SUTTER HOUSE IN THE CITY ON MONDAY MORNING AFTER AN ILLNESS LASTING SEVERAL MONTHS FROM CANCER OF THE STOMACH. THE DECEASED WAS BORN AT DUNBAR CANADA, ON FEBRUARY 2, 1854, WHERE HE GREW TO MANHOOD. HE CAME TO PLYMOUTH COUNTY TWENTY -EIGHT YEARS AGO AND HAS RESIDED ON HIS FARM IN UNION TOWNSHIP ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY SINCE THAT TIME. HE WAS ONE OF THE EARLY SETTLERS AND HAD A WIDE ACQUAINTANCE IN THE COUNTY AND WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. SHORTLY AFTER HE LOCATED HERE HIS PARENTS AND FAMILIES JOINED HIM AND BECAME RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY. HIS FATHER DIED SOME FIVE YEARS AGO AND HIS MOTHER THREE YEARS LATER. MR. BEGG WAS TAKEN SICK IN THE WINTER AND MOVED INTO TOWN IN ORDER THAT HE MIGHT MORE EASILY PROCURE MEDICAL SKILL AND ATTENDANCE. THE DECEASED LEAVES FOUR BROTHERS, JOHN, WILLIAM AND PETER RESIDING IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY AND JAMES, OF ELDORADO MISSOURI TO MORN HIS DEATH. THE FUNERAL TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY AT THE UNION TOWNSHIP PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND WAS LARGELY ATTENDED BY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WHO HAD KNOWN AND RESPECTED HIM FOR MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY.
