Hawarden, IA—Mary L. Mockler-Hoeck, age 81, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family, after a 6 year courageous battle of pancreatic cancer. During this time she attended 5 grandchildren’s weddings and danced at each one. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Roger Linnan celebrating. Burial will follow after the luncheon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Akron, IA. Visitation will begin at noon until 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Mary was born December 18, 1930 near Akron, IA the daughter of Ambrose and Clara (Buryanek) Feauto. She married Jack Mockler on November 30, 1950. Together, they lived near Kingsley on the family farm, Sibley, and Chatsworth, before finally residing in Akron. Jack passed away on December 21, 1990. Mary married Harlan Hoeck on June 20, 1998. They made their home in Hawarden.

Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Guild of Hawarden. Her whole life was centered around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Many hours were spent around the karaoke machine during family gatherings. She loved music and enjoyed playing in bands for many years. Mary and her son, Mike, and her brothers Ron, Ken, Orv, and Vince also enjoyed creating music together. Mary’s family, faith, and music were the most important things in her life.

Mary is survived by her husband, Harlan of Hawarden; 7 children, Pat (Tom) Struve of Solon, IA, Vicki (Dave) Anstine of Kingsley, IA, Nancy (Loren) Marnach of Ashton, IA, Susan McManaman of Hickory, NC, Mike Mockler of Kalona, IA, Theresa (Kerry) Boyd of Big Timber, MT and Ron (Shelley) Mockler of Tiffin, IA; one brother, Orville (Marlene) of Akron; sister-in-law, Elaine (Ken) Feauto of Fort Dodge, IA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack; infant brother, Raymond Feauto; older brothers, Lawrence, Vincent, Arnold “Barney”, Ken and Ron Feauto; and sisters, Florence and Dorothy.
