Remsen News. While Herman Wullstein, who lives on his father’s farm five miles north of Remsen, was in Remsen, Friday, May 25, painting up his father’s house, a messenger came with the report that his wife had fallen down a stairway and was injured. Herman quickly drove to the farm, accompanied by Dr. Schoofs. The unfortunate lady gave birth to a babe which died a few hours later. The mother is doing better than was at first expected and Dr. Schoofs will get her through all right. – Le Mars Globe, June 2, 1894, page 4.
Note: Herman Wullstein purchased the north half of Lot 90 of Block 1 East in the Remsen Community Cemetery in 1896. There are no stones on this lot except the foundation for what was a baby stone. The main part of the stone has been broken off. This is likely where the baby of Herman and Marie Wullstein is buried.
