THREE DEATHS IN WEEK. Henry Bohlke of Petersburg, Mrs. Wullstein and Ruden Baby Answer Summons… Mrs. Caroline Wullstein, wife of the late Jacob Wullstein, passed away at her home in Remsen on Monday morning after an illness of about two months with strangulated hernia. She was seventy-nine years of age. Mrs. Wullstein is survived by three sons, two daughters, three step sons and two sisters. The funeral was held here yesterday.
Mrs. Wullstein began to fail in health when her husband died two months ago. After his death she was confined to her home for a few weeks, and then went to Sioux City to be cared for in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Miller. Several weeks ago she returned to Remsen and was accompanied by her son Louis, who also brot his family. They lived in the old Wullstein home, and all of the aged lady’s children were with her when the end came.
Caroline Ernestine Wullstein, nee Paeper, was born on the island of Ruegen, near Patzig, Germany, on June 29, 1839. There she married Ludwig Schraeder in 1862. Four years later they came to the United States, settling at Michigan City, Indiana. They subsequently lived in the states of Illinois, and South Dakota, and in 1890 moved to Perry, Texas, where Mr. Schraeder died in 1893. To this union eight children were born. Several years after the death of her husband, Mrs. Wullstein came to Sioux City, where she was married to Jacob Wullstein in 1904.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with services in St. Paul’s Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. E. H. Eilers, and interment was made in the Remsen cemetery.
Mrs. Wullstein was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid society, and was also a regular attendant at Divine Services. She was well beloved by her many associates and was a woman who was highly deserving of the highest esteem. – Remsen Bell Enterprise, Feb. 7, 1918, page 1.

Note: Caroline doesn’t appear to have a gravestone in the Remsen cemetery, but it is likely that she is buried there as she was living in Remsen. Her husband, Jacob, had purchased the north half of lot 109 of Block 1 East in 1896. Caroline is probably the 4th wife of Jacob Wullstein.
