REMSEN. (Special Correspondence). The family circle was broken when death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Eichhorn early Saturday morning when their younger child, Roy, was called to his eternal home. Roy Edwin Eichhorn was born April 13, 1926, in Remsen. He always appeared well until after he had started to school at the age of five and one-half years. Attending the first grade for a period of five months it was first noticed he began failing in health. For the remainder of the school year until the following fall he stayed at home for a rest. When school resumed he enrolled in the second grade. The following January at the doctor’s advice he was again taken out of school for a complete rest. Since that time he has been gradually failing in health, although his parents had taken him all over the middle west in search of relief. On the morning of the twentieth of January he passed away at his home at the age of seven years, nine months and seven days. Heart trouble and an incurable disease of the blood was given as the cause of this death. Those left to mourn his early death are his parents, three sisters and one brother and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. Paul’s church in Remsen, the Rev. Paul Wuebben officiating. Burial took place in the Remsen cemetery. – Le mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Jan. 30, 1934, page 3.
