The funeral services for Curtis Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Johnston, were held at the Christ Lutheran church Sunday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. A. Noack. The lad was hit by an automobile last Wednesday in front of the Johnston home while he was attempting to get a ball which he had thrown in the street. He was rushed to the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars. Because of brain injury his recovery was impossible. He died twelve hours later. Surviving him are his father and mother and a sister, Ruth and a brother, Roy, He was two years of age. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, June 5, 1931, page 4.
