Mrs. George Kramer. Mrs. George Kramer, 77, who lied in Remsen for 75 years died at the Marcus nursing home on Wednesday at 11 p.m. She was born April 3, 1881 near Iowa City.
She is the daughter of the late August and Mary Arnst [Earnest] and moved to Remsen at the age of 3 where she married George W. Kramer Sept. 4, 1904. They lived most of their married life at Remsen.
Surviving are the husband, two sons, Cyril of Remsen and Melvin at Peoria, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Galles of Remsen; Mrs. Theodore Trienen of Marcus and Mrs. Frank Hewicker of Remsen.
Body is at the Moeller funeral home at Remsen. Services will be in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Wuebben will officiate and burial in the Remsen community cemetery. – Le Mars Globe Post, April 10, 1958, page 13.

MRS. GEO. KRAMER WAS PROMINENT REMSEN RESIDENT

Mrs. George W. Kramer, 77, Remsen resident for 75 years, died in a Marcus nursing home Wednesday night, April 9, after a prolonged illness.

She had been in the Marcus home more than a year and before that a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital one year.

Born April 3, 1881, on a farm near Iowa City in Johnson county, she moved to the Remsen community with her parents when three years old.

Her marriage to George W. Kramer took place at Remsen Sept. 24, 1904. The couple continued to live at Remsen except for a few years at Joplin, Mo., after Mr. Kramer’s retirement from the food store business.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Cyril, who operates the food market, and Melvin of Peoria, Ill.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Galles of Remsen, Mrs. Theodore Treinen of Marcus and Mrs. Frank Hewicker of Remsen.

Preceding her in death, besides her parents were three brothers, Fred Earnest, Charles Earnest, John Earnest and Mrs. Lena Mechnig.

Services were at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in the Remsen community cemetery.

Also – Was born April 3, 1881, in Johnson County, Ia, and spent 74 or her 77 years in Remsen. She was married Sept. 24, 1904, to George Kramer. She died April 9, 1958. Survivors include her husband and two sons, Cyril and Melvin. – Liong family news clipping.
