John T. Diercksen.
John Thomas Diercksen, 87, a resident of this community the last seven years, died Friday morning at his home after a long illness.
Mrs. Diercksen was born February 27, 1870, in Germany. He came to the United States about 1893.
After farming in the Remsen community for many years, Mr. Diercksen retired to Remsen. He came to Le Mars about 1950. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran church at Remsen.
Survivors are the widow; a son John of Hawarden; six daughters, Mrs. Henry Sanow of Remsen, Mrs. John Klaschen of Wolsey, South Dakota, Mrs. William Klingbeil of Pierson, Mrs. Lillian Nelson of Cherokee, Mrs. Peter Miller of Sioux City and Mrs. Leo Wilhelmi of Le Mars; Mrs Ena Sampson of Akron and Mrs. Carl Heesch of Marcus, both of whom were raised by Mr. and Mrs. Diercksen; a sister in Germany; 25 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (today) at Christ Lutheran church in Remsen. Rev. Alfred Christiansen will officiate. Burial will be in a Remsen cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home of Remsen. - Le Mars Globe Post, Jan. 6, 1958, page 11.
