Three Year Old Child Crushed Under Brooder. Little Son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Bergner Is Victim.
Jimmy Bergner, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Bergner of Marion township, was fatally injured late Friday afternoon when caught under a chicken brooder house which his father was moving in the farm yard at the place.
The lad was playing around while the moving was going on with a brother slightly older. The elder of the lads hopped on the brooder and was inside. The younger lad was caught as the brooder was being lowered and his chest injured and leg fractured, resulting in death shortly after the accident.
The lad was three years old last September. His death is mourned by his parents and a brother, Richard, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cardwell, who live in Sioux City.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Remsen, Rev. Paul Wuebben officiating, and interment made in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 15, 1941, page 1.
