Mrs. John Reinholdt passed away at her home early Friday morning and her death came as a sudden shock to the family since her condition was not considered alarming. Mrs. Reinholdt was 65 years old.
Mrs. John Reinholdt, whose maiden name was Wiebke Peters, was born in the village of Lehe, Holstein, Germany, on November 14, 1859, and came to the United States alone in August, 1883. On her arrival she came direct to Remsen, where on September 28, of the same year, she was united in marriage to John Reinholdt, who had also come here from Germany some time previously. Immediately after their marriage, Mr. and Mars. Reinholdt went to a farm which they purchased four miles northeast of Remsen, and lived there for eleven years. Mr. Reinholdt then sold the farm and purchased a larger place three and one-half miles south of town, where they made their home for 14 years, retiring in the spring of 1908 and coming to spend their remaining days in Remsen. They purchased a home in the southeast end of town, where the family still resides.
She is survived by her husband and children: Herman, August, John, Louis, Henry and Fred Reinholdt, all of Remsen; Annie, now Mrs. Herman Dreessen, Sibley, Iowa; and George and William Reinholdt, in business at Early, Iowa. There are also two brothers and one sister living in Holstein, Germany.
The funeral of Mrs. Reinholdt took place Sunday afternoon.
The pall bearers were the six oldest sons of the deceased, namely Herman, August, John, George , William and Louis Reinholdt. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 24, 1925, page 3.
