Obituary. Paul Schmidt.
Paul Schmidt, 84, longtime Remsen masonry contractor, died Saturday at Happy Siesta nursing home.
He was born July 25, 1885, in Germany and began working as a mason with his father at age 16. His parents were the late Fred and Caroline Schmidt.
His marriage to Vera Brune took place June 3, 1912.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen. Rev. Paul Wuebben will officiate and burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday. A private prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors are his wife, Remsen; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Lorraine) Brandes of Remsen; four sons, Omar of Golden Valley, Minn.; Robert of Des Moines; Fred of Beverly, and Ronald of Glendale Heights, Ill.
