John H. Lubben
John H. Lubben, 67, LeMars, died unexpectedly Thursday at St. Luke east hospital, Sioux City after a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 19, 1901, at LeMars and was a lifelong Plymouth county resident. He retired to LeMars four years ago after farming in Grant township. His parents were the late Albert and Margaret Kleihauer Lubben.
His marriage to Louise Ludwigs took place Oct. 14, 1925, at St. Matthew Lutheran church Chatsworth. He was a member of Floyd Valley Chordsmen, LeMars and St. John American Lutheran church.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran church in LeMars, with Rev. Arnold Imbrock and Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery, Grant township.
Friends may call at the Luken-Johnson funeral home Sunday afternoon.
Survivors are his wife, Louise; two sons, Melvin, Sioux City and Marvin, Torrence, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs, Donald (Lucella) DeYoung, Lakewood, Calif., and Mrs. Herbert (Elnora) Renken, Anaheim; three brothers, Henry, Phillip and Albert, all of LeMars.; four sisters, Mrs. Gretha Oetken, Mrs. Harry (Nora) Westhoff, and Mrs. Arnold (Rosetta) Westhoff, all of LeMars, and Mrs. Bruno (Margaret) Brunken, Struble. There are 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
