Memorial services were conducted Friday at Long Beach, Calif. For Mrs. Edward J. Lang who died Monday, Aug. 27, 1979, at a convalescent home where she had been a patient for the last year.
Anna Katrina Groth was born Sept. 17, 1890, on a farm south of Remsen , to John and Margaretha Boge Groth, prominent Remsen settlers. Anna spent her childhood and youth in Remsen where her father was a businessman.
She was graduated from Cedar Falls Teacher’s college and although she was qualified to teach she did not pursue that profession.
On March 27, 1913, Anna Katrina Groth and Edward J. Lang were united in marriage. The couple farmed on the Fred Lang farm north of Remsen for 35 years until Mr. Lang’s death in 1947.
Mrs. Lang then moved to Santa Ana, Calif., to be near her children and for many years was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross.
Mrs. Lang is survived by her four children, Robert E. Lang of Willows, Calif.; James Rudolph Lang of Long Beach; Mrs. Kenneth (Janet) Lewis of Lavina, Mont., and Edward J. Lang jr., of Eugene, Ore.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, four grandchildren preceded her in death.
