Early Remsen Settler Passes Away At Tripp.
Funeral services were held in St. Paul’s Evangelical church at Remsen Tuesday for Mrs. Emily Lang, of Tripp, S. D., an early day resident of Remsen vicinity. She was 70 years of age and died after a long illness. Services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev Paul Wuebben, assisted by the Rev. Frank, pastor of the Methodist church at Tripp.
Emily Reinhardt was born May 11, 1863, at Elgin, Fayette county, Iowa. She lived at home with her parents until the time of her marriage, March 16, 1886, to William E. Lang. Immediately after their marriage the couple came to Remsen and farmed there until 1919 when they moved to Tripp in order to be nearer their children. Five children were born to this union. A son, Henry, and a daughter, Clara, passed away in childhood. Mr. Lang preceded his wife in death thirteen years ago on July 28, 1921.Surviving Mrs. Lang are her son, Clarence, and two daughters, Mrs. Laura Brunken and Mrs. Emily Reiser, all of Tripp, a brother, Jake Reinhardt, and a sister, Mrs. John Meyer, both of Elkader, Iowa. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 20, 1934, page 1.
