Mrs. Emma Hendricks Dies; Formerly Was Café Operator Here.
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Hendricks, 62, former Remsen resident who died Saturday, June 26, in the Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee, were held in Christ Lutheran church, Remsen, June 28, conducted by Rev. Alfred Christiansen.
In failing health for six years, Mrs. Hendricks had been a patient for six months in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Rasmus in Cherokee and was admitted to the hospital last March 31.
Born in Remsen Nov. 24, 1891, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Christine Nissen, pioneers in the community.
July 12, 1911, she was married in Sioux City to John Hendricks, who died in 1938.
While operating a café in Le Mars about six years ago, Mrs. Hendricks began to fail in health and sold her business, subsequently living among her children.
Surviving are the three children – Mrs. (Faye) Rasmus, Cherokee, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Rodesch, Los Angeles, and Ms. Frank (Theresa) Mazur, Inglewood, Calif.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Olinda Shields, Remsen, her brother, Frank Nissen, Niles, Calif., and her aunt, Miss Mary Scherner, Remsen, and other relatives.
