Note: Her mother's maiden name was McDeid. It is believed this woman spent some time living in the Akron area because her mother (Ethel Akers) died in 1918 while she was living in the Akron area. Also, checked for birth year through Iowa census records through ancestry.com and it said about 1912.
Olive E. Raben
Olive E. Raben, Rapid City, S.D., died Saturday (March 29, 1986) at the Rapid City Regional hospital.
Services were held April 1 at the First United Methodist church in Rapid City. The Rev. Dr. Richard Ward officiated. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery, with graveside rites by the Order of the Easter Star. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.
Mrs. Raben, the former Olive Akers, was born to O.B. and Ethel Akers at Delmont, S.D. and attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. She married Lyle H. Raben June 5, 1930, in Armour. They lived in the Armour area and in Rapid City. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was past matron of the Golden Link chapter, past president of the Areme club and past member of the Ishan Temple, Daughters of the Nile and past president of Nydia club. She had been a guardian of Job's Daughters and a president of Fortnitely club.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan Cady of Stow, Ohio; three sons; John (Jack) Raben of Rapid City, Richard Raben of Scansbury Park, Utah, and Timothy Raben of Hanford, Conn.; a sister, Lucile Ross of Akron, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and two grandchildren. A memorial has been established to the Order of the Eastern Star.
