James Agnes

James Agnes, 84, Akron, died Tuesday at the Akron hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic church in Akron. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1894, at Akron and was married to Amy Smith, May 17,1905, at Akron. He was a former auctioneer and farmer. He was a member of Eagles lodge 2236 at Akron.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Don Campbell, Akron; three sisters, Sister Mary St. Vivian, BVM, Milwaukee; Sister Mary St. Matthew, BVM, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Ollie Agnes, Milwaukee; two brothers. Rev. John Agnes, SJ, St. Bonifacius, Minn., and Matt, Fort Dodge, formerly of Le Mars; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for James A. Agnes, age 84, of Akron, la., who passed away on Nov. 26 in the Akron Hospital after a brief illness, were held Nov. 29 at St. Patrick Catholic Church In Akron. Father John Agnes S. J. officiating.

Mr. Agnes was born Oct. 4, 1884 in Akron, Iowa. He was a former auctioneer and farmer, spending his entire life in this vicinity. On May 17, 1905 he married Amy Smith.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Don Campbell, Akron; three sisters: Sister Mary St. Vivien, BVM, Milwaukee, Wise,; Sister Mary St. Matthew, BVM, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Miss Rose Hoffman, Washington, D.C.; and Miss Ollie Agnes, Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers Father John Agnes S.J. St. Bonifascus, Minn. and Matt, Fort Dodge, Iowa; two grandchildren, Marlin Campbell, Tempo, Ariz., Mrs. Lorene Dekker, Ireton, la., and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Melvin Nielsen, Paul and Lovay Lamoureaux, Virgil Campbell, William Meinen and James Hawks. Burial was In the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron.
