SIOUX CITY -- Joyce G. Lee, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at a local assisted living center.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Joyce was born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Eric and Vera (Kowalke) Petersen. She graduated in 1944 from Le Mars High School.

On Dec. 5, 1945, she was married to Vernon Goodvin. They were later divorced. On Dec. 26, 1972, she married Everett Lee, and they resided in Sioux City. Joyce worked over 20 years at Edith & Joe's, which later became Bogner's Steak House, as the restaurant manager, retiring in 1983.

Joyce volunteered and led West High School Baseball concession stands during the 1990s. She and Everett enjoyed spending time with family and friends, socializing at the Riverboat and were members of the Siouxland Amateur Organ Club. Joyce was an active member of the Riverside Lutheran Church and the church's Quilting Club.

Joyce is survived by her three sons, Virgil Goodvin and his wife, Jackie of Sloan, Iowa, Bob Goodvin and his wife, Michelle of Sioux City, and Larry Goodvin and his wife, Jody of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Joan and her husband, Terry Swanger of Lawton, Iowa, and Linda and her husband, Mark Smail of Minneapolis, Minn.; her stepdaughters, Patty and her husband, Marlin Kumm of Bloomington, Neb., and Judy Fischer of Tripp, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wilbur Petersen of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her parents, Eric and Vera Petersen; one son, Billy Goodvin; one great-grandson, Garrett Goodvin; and one brother, Donald Petersen.

Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland.
