AKRON, Iowa -- Edith "Ester" Beeck, 73, of Akron died Monday, July 30, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mrs. Beeck was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Akron, the daughter of Dick and Emma (Henke) Richters. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Akron High School. She married Chris Beeck on April 5, 1947, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Dec. 21, 1990. She was employed as a repair operator with Aalfs Manufacturing for 14 years.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed flowers, birds and her cat.
Survivors include two sons, James Richters and Mert Beeck, both of Akron; a daughter, Linda and her husband, Larry Parker of Sioux City; and three sisters, Helen Martin of Akron, Dorothy Graff of Sioux City, and Francis and her husband, Kenneth Mead of Davenport, Iowa.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Fred, Richard, Henery, Clancy and George; and a sister, Bernice.
Pallbearers will be Doug Mackey, Jed Mackey, Tim Richters, Duane Schelling, Bob Beeck and Wayne Bumm.
