LOUIS J. WINTERFELD FUNERAL RITES SET THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral services for Louis John Winterfeld, 91, virtual lifelong resident of the Craig vicinity, will be at 2 p m. Thursday at Mauer's funeral home. Rev. Ervin Schemmel of Craig will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran cemetery in Reading township, near Ireton.
Mr. Winterfeld died Sunday at Elkhorn, Neb., where he had been making his home with a daughter. Mrs. Donald Shearer, the last year and a half.
He was born Aug. 2, 1871, in Clayton county. Iowa, a son of John and Fredricka Weinhaben Winterfeld. He farmed in the Craig vicinity for 50 years before retiring to Craig. His marriage to Alvina Baack took place in 1901 in Reading township, Sioux City. In 1907 he married Bertha Baack in Le Mars. Both wives preceded him in death, as did a son Arthur, a daughter Erna, four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Ethel) Metz of Sioux City. Mrs. Paul (Luella) Beyer of Douglas, Ariz;, Mrs. Norma Kock of Craig and Mrs. Donald (Lois) Shearer of Elkhorn, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
