Promient Stock Man Dies Tuesday

JOHN KLOHS SUCCUMBS AT HOSPITAL

LEG AMPUTATED A FEW HOURS BEFORE DEATH—DEMISE IS CAUSED BY DIABETES

John Klohs, a prominent stock man of LeMars, died at the Community hospital Tuesday, Feb. 27. Death was caused from diabetes. Mr. Klohs was known throughout the northwestern part of Iowa, as a great hog buyer.

John Klohs was born in Saxony, Germany, March 1, 1861. He came to America in 1881 and settled in Cleveland, Ohio, and later moved to Davenport. Iowa. In Cleveland and Davenport he spent a year and moved to Plymouth county in 1882, settling in Grant township. He was married in 1884 to Miss Rieke Baack ot Sioux county. He and his wife settled on a farm in Grant township and a little later moved to Dalton, Iowa, on another farm. On this farm he lived for a few years and then moved to Marion township, east of LeMara. In 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Klohs and family moved to LeMars.

Four sons and five daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Klohs who are: Fred, Charles, William and John Klohs. The daughters are: Mrs. Frank Schultz ot Dalton, Mrs. Wm. Schultz of Aberdeen, S. D., Mrs. Louis Okorstrom of LeMars, Mrs. Chester Rumley, of Columbia, S. D. and Miss Anna Klohs of LeMars.

The funeral was held this aftemoon from the St. John Lutheran church, Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating. Mr. Klohs was well known throughout this section of Iowa and had many friends. He believed In helping others in time of need and even go without himself.
