MERRILL, Iowa—Lois Christine Ragan, 82, of rural Merrill died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993, at her home after a long illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Westfield Congregational Church with Susan G. Miller, chaplain for Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Ragan was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Hancock Township (Plymouth County), rural Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Amelia (Jones) Solomon. She married Chester Raby June 24, 1930, in Sioux City. They farmed near James, Iowa, for two years and then at Merrill. He died Sept. 8, 1965. She married Lyle Ragan Oct. 3, 1967, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Oct. 2, 1984.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Wakeman of Merrill; three grandsons, Jerry and his wife, Marcia Dewey of Westfield, Dennis and wife, Irene Dewey of Akron and Lesley Dewey of Merrill; 14 great grandchildren; two step-daughters, Beverly and her husband, Louis Welch of Sioux City and Deb and her husband, Dan Harder of Evans, Colo.; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mabel Solomon of Merrill.

Lois Christine Ragan, 82, of rural Merrill, IA died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993, at her home after a long illness.

Services were held Thursday at the Westfield Congregational Church. Susan G. Miller, Hospice chaplain, officiated. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Visitation was held Wednesday, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Jerry Dewey, Dennis Dewey, Lesley Dewey, Clint Faust, Brent Faust, and Nathan Dewey. "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross: were sung by soloist, Shirley Banks. Arlene Morehead was pianist.

Survivors: include a daughter, Dorothy Wakeman of Merrill; three grandsons, Jerry and his.; wife, Marcia Dewey of Westfield; Dennis and his wife,; Irene Dewey ; of Akron and Lesley Dewey of Merrill; 14 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Beverly and her husband, Louis Welch of Sioux City, and Deb and her husband, Dan Harder of Evans, Colo.; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mabel Solomon of Merrill.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth; three brothers, Ernie, Emmett and Charles Solomon; and a granddaughter, Rita Kay Faust.
