Joe J. "Bill" Banks

Joe J. "Bill" Banks, 58, Westfield, died at a Sioux Falls, hospital Wednesday, (March 16, 1977) of a long illness. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Logan Park cemetery in Sioux City. The Rev. Durwood Clauson officiated. Burial was under the direction of Schroeder funeral home, Akron.

Mr. Banks was born July 23, 1918 in Sioux township, Plymouth county, Iowa. He was a World War II veteran, serving in France and Germany in the anti-tank unit for four years. He farmed most of his life in the Westfield area on the family farm.

Survivors include two sisters, Miss Vera Banks and Mrs. Roy (Marian) Postlewait, both of Westfield; six brothers, Alvord, Belmer, Wurth, Lloyd, Emmett and Arden, all of Westfield and Orel of Akron; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Robert Taylor, Charles Weber, Lyle Weber, Alford Nason, Roy Postelwait and Jim Hey.
