Life-Long Resident Of Plymouth County

Herman Conrad Popken, who lived at 115 Second Ave., N.W. Le Mars, died October 28, in Sacred Heart hospital after a lingering illness which extended over a period of several years.

Herman Popken was born March 9, 1877, in Grant township and lived his entire life in Plymouth county, moving to Le Mars four years ago. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Popke Popken. On March 2, 1898, he was married to Tena Eden, who survives him, with three daughters born of their marriage, Mrs. Sophia Delperding, Sioux City, Mrs. Gratie Mueller and Mrs. Rose Oltmans of Le Mars. He is also survived by two brothers, Gerd and John Popken of Craig, and five grandchildren.

His parents and a son, John, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:45 p. m. and St. John's American Lutheran church at 2 p.m., Friday, October 31, with Rev. L. L. Belk officiating and burial will be in Le Mars city cemetery. The pallbearers will be Dick Willms, Dick Frerichs, Henry Beitelspacher, Henry Oltmans, George Popken and Elmer Oloff.
