Thomas H. Sweeney

Thomas H. Sweeney, 79, Akron, died May 1,1976 in a Sioux City hospital of a brief illness.

Services were held at 11 a.m. May 4 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Akron. The Rev. Stanley R. Stone officiated. Burial was in the Ellendale cemetery, rural Merrill. Casket bearers were H. P. Anderson, Art Huebner, James Henrich, Robert Pridie, Phillip Bernard and Richard Coyle.

Mr. Sweeney was born July 15, 1896, at Hinton. He married Mary McCullough Jan. 7, 1920, in Sioux City. He farmed in Plymouth county several years and then was employed by the Iowa State Highway department 31 years, retiring in 1961. A veteran of World War l, he was a member of Hoschler Post, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. C. L. (Doris) Fredrickson, and a son, Robert, both of Sioux City; two brothers, Msgr. R: V. Sweeney of Sioux City and Peter M. Sweeney of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Miss Isadora of Sioux City, Sister Mary Consolata of Dubuque and Mrs. Eileen Vondrak of Le Mars, and four grandchildren.
