Mrs. Harold (Gladis) Jammerthal, 78, Akron, died Thursday (May 15, 1986) in the Akron City Hospital of a brief illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist church in Akron. Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home. Soloist Gary Tucker, sang "How Great Thou Art", and "In The Garden," accompanied by Pam Stowe, organist. Pallbearers were James Utesch, Julius Wilier, Dennis Port, Robert Utesch, Dwain Wilier, and Harold Moffatt.
Mrs. Jammerthal, the former Gladis Lower, was born Aug. 24, 1907 in Plymouth county to John and Mell Petty Lower. She married Harold Jammerthal July 19, 1924 in Sioux City. The couple farmed near Akron. Mr. Jammerthal died in 1980.
Survivors include one son, Harold of Akron; six daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Shirley) Day of Luverne, Minn., Mrs. Jack (Elaine) Strong of Sioux City, and Mrs. Ed (Lorraine Kiewel, Lola Prothero, Mrs. Clyde (Imogene) McKee, and Mrs. James (Lois Ann) Arens, all of Akron; 46 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold in 1980; three daughters, Carol, Audrey and Darlene; one son, Dean; one sister, Lena Martin; and four brothers, Fred, Lone, Dort and Fay.
