DEATH OF YOUNG TEACHER. Was Formerly Assistant Principal In Remsen Schools.
Miss Mary Harnack, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Harnack, died at her home in Remsen, Friday morning, January 22, 1915. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at one o’clock from the Lutheran Christ’s church, with Rev. Guenther in charge, and the remains were laid to rest in the Remsen cemetery.
The deceased was about thirty years of age. She was a young lady of the highest character, was mentally very keen, and in all ways was a desirable friend and companion. The floral tributes which poured into her home during the last days of her sickness and since her death spoke eloquently of the love her friends bore for her.
Miss Harnack was a graduate of the Remsen high school, and later of the Teachers’ college at Cedar Falls. She very satisfactorily held the position of assistant principal in the Remsen schools for a number of years. Recently she was engaged in her profession in the eastern part of the state.
She formerly was of a very rugged constitution, but the last year or so seemed to be failing in strength and endurance. Aenemia was the cause of her death.
She is survived by her parents, three sisters, Anna Elizabeth and Bertha, and two brothers, Henry and John. - Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Friday, January 29, 1915
