Albert S. Bernhardt, 78, Westfield, Iowa, died Thursday, April 28 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 in the Schroeder Funeral Home at Akron. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Pallbearers were Walter Hummel, Ron Trudo, Robert Tucker, Walter Jones, Lowell Morehead, and Dick Foley.

Mr. Bernhardt was born Feb. 3, 1895 at Battle Creek. He was a World War I Veteran who served in France. He farmed and operated a grocery store at Milnerville, near Westfield for many years. He retired to Westfield in 1971.

Survivors include a sister Mrs. Fred (Tessie) Maron of Sioux City, and brothers Daniel of Moville and William of Kingsley.
