Herman M. Ahrens, 84, Alcester, S.D., died Wednesday, April 4, 1973 at the Hawarden hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Church of Christ, Alcester, with Rev. Milo Sheldon officiating. Burial was in the Akron cemetery under direction of the Wass Funeral Home, Alcester.

Mr. Ahrens was born Sept. 18, 1888, at Morrison, Ill., coming to Akron in 1894 with his parents.

He married Lena Jacobs Jan. 10, 1912. They farmed east of Akron. Mrs. Ahrens died in 1959. He married Carrie Tucker Aug. 15, 1963 at Akron. The couple moved to Alcester in 1966.

Survivors are his wife; three stepsons, Howard and Kenneth Tucker, both of Alcester, and Bruce Tucker of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, George and Arthur, both of Alcester; and two sisters, Mrs. Adele Willms of Alcester, and Mrs. Hattie Kurle of Java, S.D.
