Walter Christensen, 72, Route 1, Elk Point, S.D. died Wednesday, January 24 at a Vermillion, S.D. hospital.The funeral was at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 26 in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. The Rev. David Roy officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron.

Pall bearers were Art Staum, Orland Lawrence, Harold Kleihauer, Eric Olund, Robert Smith and Oscar Mentzer.

A lifetime farmer in the Akron and Elk Point area, Mr. Christensen was born October 11, 1900 in Union County, S.D. He had lived in an Elk Point nursing home since November.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Josephine Heyl of Hawarden and a brother Julius, of Elk Point.
