Johnson Mark Karch, 77, of Sioux City, died Sunday, October 8, 1972, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 11 at the Nelsotf-Berger Northside Funeral Home. The Rev.Wallace A. Stark of Whitfield United Methodist Church officiated. Military graveside rites were conducted by members of Monahan Post 64, American Legion, in Logan Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers, all members of Monahan Post 64, were Victor Peterson, Rollie Friend, Robert Coney, Irving Bortle, T. W. Vollmer and Norman J. Sawyer.

Mr. Karch was born March 1, 1895, at Blencoe, Iowa, and was reared in Monona County, Iowa. He married Sadie Steessy January 1, 1923, at Elk Point She died August 24, 1942 at Westfield, Iowa. He married, Neva Pollock November 11, 1943, at Akron, Iowa. She died September 28, 1963, in Sioux City.

Mr. Karch was a welder-mechanic for Armour and Co., retiring in 1960. An Army veteran of World War I, he was a 50-year member of the Monahan Post 64 and a member of the Forty-and- Eight. He also was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and the Isaak Walton League.

Survivors include two stepsons, Robert Pollock of Akron and Alden Pollock with the U.S. Air Force in Puerto Rico; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Walter Dirks of Akron, and Mrs. Herbert Woudenberg of Lincoln, Nebr.; a brother, George of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Harley (Alma) Hogeboom of Sioux City and Mrs. Arthur Qva) Baker of Whiting, Iowa; 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren.
