Henry Kohlmeier Former Remsen Resident Passes.
Henry Kohlmeier, 67, well known former Remsen resident died at Storden Minn., Tuesday after an illness of a year.
Mr. Kohlmeier was born on January 22, 1874, at Platteville, Wis., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kohlmeier. His father passed away when Harry was a child. In 1882, when he was eight years old, he came to Remsen with his mother and step-father, the late Henry Mehlhop, the family settling on a farm south of Remsen. He was married to Anna Spiecker of Remsen February 19, 1897.
He farmed near Remsen and later was employed in the Farmers elevator and in the draying business in town. They later lived at Platte, S.D. Mrs. Kohlmeier died a year ago. He leaves his daughters, Mrs. Ed Missling, Wadena, Minn., Mrs. H. Harnack and Mrs. Frank Fiel, Arlington, Minn.
The deceased was a step brother of Carl Mehlhop and Mrs. John Holler of Remsen.
The funeral was held Friday at Storden and the body brought to Remsen where services were held at the graveside. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Nov 25, 1941, page 1.
