WILLIAM G. WOOD

LE MARS, Iowa—William G. Wood, 73, of LeMars, died Sunday in a hospital in LeMars after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in LeMars with Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Valley Cemetery, rural Merrill.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with the family present from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Wood was born Oct. 2, 1914, in Meriweather County, Greenville, Ga. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1931 to 1936 and U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.

He married Carolyn Bogenrief Oct. 26, 1960, in Miami, Fla.

Mr. Wood was a member of First Baptist Church in LeMars, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, E. G., of Mathews, N.C., and David of Neman, Ga.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Byrnes of Miami; two step-sons, Tom Laughton, of LeMars and John Laughton, of St. Marys City, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Gordon (Pat) Lamb of St. Petersburg, Fla.; half brother Dempsey Wood of Miami; four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
