Mrs. Albert J. TePoel, 97, Elk Point, a pioneer in the Midwest and a retired school teacher, died Monday morning, January 17, at the Akron Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, at the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City. The, Rev. Paul H. Heath, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Pallbearers were Kenneth and Keith Abraham, Delmont Johnson, Glenn Kutil, Lowell Wetrosky and Alvin Frisk,.

The former Frances F. Kutil, Mrs. TePoel was born February 14, 1874, in Baltimore, Md. She came west to Minnesota and the Dakota Territory by covered wagon. She was graduated from Fremont (Nebr.) Normal School, and she taught schools in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.

She was married to Mr. TePoel in 1908 at Fremont. They resided in Sioux City from 1915 to 1931. The couple lived on farms in Union County until Mr. TePoel died in 1964 at Akron.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Norman Abraham of Spink, S.D.; a son, Clarence, of Sturgis, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Stekl of Artesian, S.D.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
