Funeral services for Mrs. William Zierath, 81, WestSide Nursing Home, 801 W. Fifth St., formerly of Akron, Iowa, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Akron. The Rev. David J. Roy, church pastor, officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wesley Wood, Harold Rhode, Burton Swift, Darrell and Harold Overbeck and Gail Bauerly.
Mrs. Zierath died Friday, October 29, at a Sioux City hospital. The former Hilma M. Nelson, Mrs. Zierath was born December 20,1889, at Worthington, Minn. She was married in 1909 at Akron. Her husband was chief engineer at the Municipal electric light plant in Akron for 40 years and he turned on the first electric lights here in 1909. He died October 7,1949 at Akron.
Mrs. Zierath moved to Le Mars 18 years ago. She lived there until moving to the West Side Nursing Home a week ago. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Akron.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Sioux City; a brother, Arthur of Worthington; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Moss also of Worthington and Mrs. Ann Schmidt of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A daughter Vivian and a son Melvin preceded her In death.
