George L. Carlson, age 85, died Friday, October 15 in the Akron Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19 at Pleasant Hill Chapel, rural Akron, Rev. David Roy officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill U.B. Cemetery, Schroeder Funeral Home in charge. Pall bearers were: Lawrence Kiewell, Herb Swanson, John Koplin, Ed Freidel, Norman Abraham and Russell Abraham. Prayer services were held at 7 p.m., October 18 at the funeral home.

Mr. Carlson was born December 18, 1885 to Union County, S.D., and was a lifelong resident of rural Akron, being a farmer. Mrs. Carlson died many years ago.

Survivors are: a daughter, Mrs. Harley Goodroad of Jefferson, S.D.; a son, Alvin of Santa Paula, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
