Herman B. Beckman, 56, Akron, died Thursday, August 12, at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha of injuries suffered August 1 in a one-car accident near Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Mr. Beckman, who was driving, had been hospitalized since the accident Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, the Rev. Durwood Clauson officiated. Graveside services were conducted by the Akron American Legion post. Schroeder Funeral Home was in charge. Pall bearers were: Robert Berg, Art Petersen, Norman Hartman, Edward Hartman, Charles Hall and Melvin Rogness. There was a prayer service at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Beckman was born September 29, 1916, at Akron. He married Charlene Pollock May 14, 1956, at Luverne, Minn. She died in 1967. He was a retired employee of the Iowa Liquor Commission. He was a World War II veteran and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a past commander of the Akron Legion Post.
Survivors include four sons, Jim of Omaha, and Douglas, William, and Walter, all of Akron; two brothers, Henry of Akron and Fred of Simi, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Harman and Mrs. Dena Calhoon, both of Alcester, S.D., and Mrs. Minnie Pollock of Akron; and two grandchildren.
