Kathryn Kempker.
Kathryn Kempker, who has been at Brentwood since April, was 84 Feb. 17.
She was born in Iowa in Audubon county where her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kerwin were farmers.
Kathryn attended rural school and lived at Carroll and attended St. Angeles academy.
She worked in a miliner's store until her marriage to John Kempker in 1916.
Mr. Kempker was in saleswork. They had lived in Wisconsin and Nebraska before coming to Le Mars over 40 years ago.
The Kempkers' 61st wedding anniversary is March 6.
John and Kathryn have a daughter. Mary, Mrs. Webb Lorenzen, Le Mars who is an RN and former Brentwood employee.
A son. Paul is a Jesuit brother at Creighton university, Omaha.
Lt. Robert Kempker of St. Louis has completed 25 years in the air force; Gerald works with National Homes Corp. at Lafayette, Ind. and James is an attorney in Milwaukee.
Two sons. Jack and Edward, lost their lives in world war 2.
Mrs. Kempker is a gold star mother.
The Kempkers have six grandchildren. They are members of St. Joseph's Catholic church.
