Funeral Saturday for Kenneth Treinen,
Killed by Bull on Farm ThursdayFuneral services for Kenneth Treinen, 57, of rural Oyens, were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic church here. Rev. Richard Birdsall officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Treinen died of injuries received when he was gored and trampled by a bull on the Treinen farm on Thursday morning, July 21.
Kenneth was born August 1, 1919, at Remsen, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Treinen. He had lived and farmed in the Remsen area his entire lifetime.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus and the Oyens Columbus Club.
Surviving are four brothers, Roman of LeHabra, Calif., Charles Jr. of Portland, Oregon, John of Fremont, Nebr., and Gerald of Remsen; three sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Callista) Cach and Mrs. Louis (Ruth) Cach of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Gerald (Shirley) Homan of Creighton, Nebr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard and a sister, Mrs. Robert Bachmann.
Pallbearers were Ray Harpenau, Dale Lehner, Steve Bortscheller, Duane Weiler, John Schroeder and Paul Schlaphoff. The Fisch funeral home of Remsen was in charge of arrangements.
