Ludwigs, Gerd Janssen Sr. 1884 - 1970

Gerd Janssen Ludwigs, Sr., 86, lifelong Struble resident, died last Monday at the Kingsley nursing home after a long illness. He had resided at the nursing home since April 4, 1969.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Mauer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Reitz officiating. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Grant Township, under direction of Mauer Funeral Home.

Mr. Ludwigs was born June 2,1884, in Grant Township; Plymouth County, a son of the late Gerd Janssen and Ann M. Gerdes Ludwigs. He married Helene Borchers September 28, 1905, in Sioux county. Mr. Ludwigs was a retired farmer and feed salesman and lifelong resident of Plymouth county, Grant Township and Struble. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son John.

Survivors are his wife Helene of Le Mars; two daughters, Catherine Ludwigs of Le Mars and Mrs. George (Zelma) Eilers of Sheldon; three sons, George H. of Hinton, Hilbert of Le Mars and Gerd J. of Akron; a sister, Mrs. Gratie Westhoff of Le Mars; a brother, John W. of Le Mars; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
