Death of John Eichhorn. John Eichhorn, well known as a prominent democrat and leading citizen of this county, died at his home southeast of Remsen on Monday morning at 7 o’clock after an illness of near-three years with consumption, and the funeral was held today at Remsen and was largely attended as he and the family had gained a wide circle of friends in their home. Mr. Eichhorn lived at Le Mars for several years where he was engaged in business going from here to Remsen where he served as a member of the city council with credit until his health failed and he was compelled to resign.
He leaves a widow and seven children and a host of friends in this county who will join the stricken family in their bereavement. He was taken sick a little more than three years ago and though he spent much of his time in Colorado the diseased apparently never checked but kept up its ravages until he succumbed. – Le Mars Globe Post, April 8, 1903, page 1.

Remsen Bell: John Bogen, the well known and reliable owner and manger of the Le Mars Marble Works has lately placed several nice monuments in the Remsen cemetery which attracts attention and admiration. The fine stones placed on the graves of the late John Eichhorn and G. D. Moritz deserve special mention and now are objects of general consideration. Not only are they masterpieces but they are also erected with a thorough care and special good taste commanding the fullest approval. Parties who contemplate the erection of a monument will do well to consult Mr. Bogen and get the very best service. – Le Mars Sentinel, Oct 16, 1903, page 3.
