Henry Boehmke, a young man about 25 years of age, died at his parental home in Remsen Wednesday, August 3, at 10 p.m. of typhoid and perforation of the bowels. The young man had been ailing for some time but serious results were not anticipated. He called on Dr. Jastram personally on Tuesday and the doctor visited him on Wednesday. During Wednesday afternoon serious complications developed and grew worse until the end came at 10 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Boehmke, parents of the deceased, went to Sioux county to be at the home of their son-in-law, Mr. Asmus Jacobsen, whose children are afflicted with scarlet fever, and as the Jacobsen home is now quarantined, it is questionable whether the parents can come to weep at the coffin of their beloved son. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Aug. 9, 1904, page 1.
