Ed Monke Suffers Long IllnessEdward Monke, 59, farmer residing southwest of Kingsley, died at his home Wednesday after an illness of a year and a half. Mr. Monke was born at Litchfield, Ill., July 19, 1885, and when a young man went to Texas where he farmed. He was married at Rule, Texas, to Miss Dora Schwede, December 28, 1910. They lived there after their marriage for five years and then moved to Slayton, Minn., until 1929, when they came to Plymouth county and farmed near Oyens. In the spring of 1941, they moved to a farm near Kingsley.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Edna Leister, St. Paul, Minn.; Melvin and Lester Monke, at home; and his brothers and sisters, Herman at Pipestone, Minn.; George of Slayton, Minn.; Fred of Weinert, Texas; Mrs. John Heeren, of LeMars; and Miss Hattie Monke, of Slayton, Minn.
The funeral was held Saturday at the Lutheran church at Kingsley and interment made in the city cemetery.
