FORMER AKRON RESIDENT CALLED TO HER REWARD
Mrs. George Hildebrand, Of Reinbeck, Iowa, Lived Here During Girlhood

From the Reinbeck (Iowa) Courier is taken the following obituary of a former Akron resident:

Funeral services will be held at the Robinson funeral home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, September 15, for Mrs. George Hildebrand, who died at her home Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, following several months’ illness of carcinoma. Rev. Oswald Sandbach will officiate and burial will be made in the Reinbeck cemetery.

Deceased was born Anna Maria McCurdy, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth McCurdy, on September 3, 1900, at Merrill, Iowa. She moved with her parents to Akron, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. Deceased was united in marriage with Bert R. Garwood in Reinbeck on April 15, 1918, and two children were born to this union, Archie Bert and Ira Zane, now in the U.S. Navy. The first-born child died several years ago. The coupled moved to California, where they were separated, and deceased returned to Reinbeck and was united in marriage with
George R. Hildebrand, September 24, 1928. The couple have since made their home in Reinbeck, where Anna as she was familiarly known, was a friend of old and young alike, a home lover, and was gainfully employed most of her life at the Wilson & Co. plant.

Mrs. Hildebrand is survived by her husband; one son, Ira Zane Garwood, C.M.2/c; three brothers and two sisters, Sam McCurdy, Mrs. John Batchelder, Luella Hildebrand, all of Waterloo; Andrew McCurdy of Wishram, Wash; and Hugh McCurdy, Warrant Officer of the U.S. Navy.

The son, Ira Zane, had been home on leave from the U.S. Navy for five weeks, and had began his return to the Islands on last Friday night, and was notified in California of his mother’s death.
