Ronald J. Hughes

Ronald J. Hughes, 46, of rural Westfield, died Thursday, May 24, 1990 in a Sioux City hospital of a sudden illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Organist was Pat Bernard. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron.

Pallbearers were David Hughes, Robert Hughes, Tom Hughes, Darrell Toben, Jeff Toben, and Martin Toben.

Mr. Hughes, was born July 29, 1943 in Harrison County, Iowa, the son of Glen and Bernadine Cuessert) Hughes. He moved with his family to the Westfleld area in 1949 and attended the Toben school. He married Sylvia Becker, May 28, 1966 in South Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Westfleld area all their married life. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of Westfleld; two sons, Ricky and Scotty, both of Westfleld; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Tracy) Wright of Midvale, Idaho, and Becky of Westfleld; a granddaughter, Audra Wright; two brother, Alfred of Portsmouth and James of Alcester, S.D.; seven sisters, Mrs. Donald (Kathleen) Renken of Brunsville, Mrs. Richard (Aldine) Meinen of Kary, Tex., Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Tucker of Bolingbrook, III., Mrs. Junior (Diane) Otten of Elk Point, Mrs. David (Colletta) Boettger of Le Mars, Glenda Arends of Akron, and Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Toben of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers Richard, Samuel and William.
