MRS. TILLIE MEIS
Mrs. Leo (Tillie) Meis, 84, of LeMars, Remsen native and lifelong Plymouth County resident, was found dead by members of her family Sunday morning (Nov. 17, 1985) at her home. She died in her sleep.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LeMars with Rev. Dale George and Rev. Gerald Hartz concelebrating a mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral home.
Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4:30 p.m., parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. and Catholic Daughters of America at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, CDA and Christian Mothers.
The former Matilda Heidesch, she was born Jan. 20, 1901, at Remsen to Joseph and Lucy Colling Heidesch. She married Leo Meis Nov. 25, 1926, at Remsen. The couple farmed near LeMars, moving into town in 1953. Mr. Meis died in 1961.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Roman (Clarice) Langel of LeMars; a son, Leon Meis, of Granville; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Staab and Mrs. Rose Haupert, both of Remsen; a brother Joseph Heidesch of Remsen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mary Kenney and three brothers, John, Leo and Fred.
