MRS. JOHN NIELSEN
Mrs. John (Herlig) Nielsen, 79, longtime LeMars resident, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon (Sept. 14, 1985) at her home after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars with Rev.Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Herlig Koster was born April 30, 1906, in Plymouth County to Chris R. and Christina Nielsen Kloster. She lived in her youth in Fredonia township and for the last 30 years in LeMars. She married John Nielsen Jan. 8, 1930, in Yankton. She was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran Church and it’s A.L.C.W., American Legion Auxiliary and World War I Veterans Barracks 1507 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, John of LeMars; a son, Dennis Nielsen of Hilton Head, S.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Jelken, LeMars and Mrs. Harry (Donna) Kienzle, Potsdam, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack and Harold Kloster, both of Remsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Delores Reinholdt in 1971, a sister and a brother.
